Aluna Cocktail Bar and Restaurant Bristol

Last Saturday my boyfriend and I took a trip to Aluna in Bristol and I can honestly say I am very impressed. Aluna is a cocktail bar and restaurant situated in the City Centre of Bristol. As Aluna is well known for its extravagant cocktails, it was only right that we tried them out whilst enjoying their delicious menu.

To start I decided to have the breaded mushrooms which was a brilliant choice. The texture of these were perfect and unlike others I have tried elsewhere, they were not greasy at all. They made the perfect starter.

My boyfriend chose the Salt Chilli Squid as his starter (as he is much more adventurous than myself). He loved his starter and was pleased with how the chilli sauce complemented the squid.

For our mains we had the Pan Fried Duck in Ponzu Sauce and Chicken Florentine. Both dishes were bursting with flavour and the generous portions definitely filled us up. My boyfriend really enjoyed the texture of the duck, and I felt that the mushroom sauce with the Chicken Florentine was incredible. I will definitely be ordering this main again when I return to the restaurant.

So after finishing our first two courses, we decided to finish off our meal with a delicious dessert. I had the chocolate brownie which was so moist and chocolatey.
Just looking at this picture makes me want to eat it all over again.

My boyfriend decided to go with the Apple Sorbet. Both desserts were well presented and after stealing a spoonful of the sorbet, I can agree that its definitely a tasty and refreshing finish to any meal.

So after giving you a run down of all the delicious food we indulged in – and probably leaving you very hungry, it’s time to show you what amazing cocktails we had.

We tried out several cocktails whilst we were there, including the Mojito and Pomegranate Cosmo. If you’re a fan of Mojitos then you definitely need to take a trip to this cocktail bar. All of their cocktails are incredibly refreshing and I was so impressed with how well presented they were.

After asking the waiter (who was incredible throughout the whole service) which cocktails she recommended, I decided to try out both the Pomegranate Cosmo and Mangolian. Both of these cocktails featured on the Midnight Madness section of the cocktail menu. It was described as ‘The science behind the cocktails’ and after trying them out I can definitely see why.

Both cocktails came out with a bang, featuring an incredible bubbling frost to them. It’s hard to describe in words, so you can watch a video of the Pomegranate Cosmo in action here

Overall as you can probably tell, I was so impressed with the service, food and incredible cocktails at Aluna.  We have both decided that this is our new favourite place and we will definitely be spending our next date night here.

I wanted to make sure that I mentioned that we were really impressed with the staff at Aluna. We were served by a lovely lady named Tory and I would like to thank her for going the extra mile for us and making our experience truly special.

She offered the best recommendations and the service we received definitely helped create the perfect atmosphere!

If you’re looking to go out for a special meal, or just wanting to try out some spectacular cocktails, then I would definitely recommend you take a trip to Aluna.

Forever Living Light Up Mirror Lipgloss

I recently tried out an amazing new lip gloss from Forever Living, not only was the quality of the product brilliant, but the built in light and mirror makes the product every girls dream.

I found that having the mirror and light attached to the lip gloss made it easier for me to apply the pink glittery gloss. The product is perfect to use anytime and anywhere which is perfect to take on a night out with you, or if you spend a lot of time travelling.

I decided to test out the product for a night out with my friends and I was pleasantly surprised! You only have to use a little of the product in order to gain a pigmented and glossy look which I loved! I also didn’t have to spend my evening re-applying this gloss which made me enjoy wearing it even more.

If you’re looking for a lip gloss which is non-sticky and long lasting then I definitely recommend you try out this product. I have included the links below for you to have a look for yourself!
Hope you enjoy x

Lan LLofft Fashion Blogging Event Cardiff

This weekend I was lucky enough to be invited to a fashion blogger event at Lan LLofft in CardiffLan Llofft is a Welsh Boutique which has shops in Cardiff, Machynlleth and Lampeter. The lovely boutique  features brands such as French Connection, Sugarhill, Darling, Great Plains and many more!

When I arrived at the event I was greeted by three lovely ladies who work in Lan Llofft in Cardiff and they immediately made me feel welcome. The shop itself was filled with lovely spring colours and many outfits stood out for me due to their cute floral patterns.

Once everybody had arrived, we were told that if we wanted to we could put together an outfit to try on and have our photograph taken in order to gain a chance at winning the outfit later on in the event. Of course I jumped at the chance and decided to go for a beautiful kimono paired with some amazing lilac heels and a lovely white clutch.
Here is the photograph taken of me in my chosen outfit:

After we had a chance at playing dress up we had a chance to get to know the women hosting the event and learn a little bit about the company. I was so pleased to find that everyone attending the event was so friendly and the day truly was wonderful!

After stuffing our faces with the refreshments they had kindly offered us, Bethan (a lovely woman who organised the event) presented us with goody bags to take home. I was so pleased to find that my bag included a stunning gold necklace, along with a blue and purple floral scarf which I will definitely be wearing this spring. I was also given a lovely tote bag and a discount code which will be perfect for my next shop at this wonderful boutique.

I am so happy to have found this boutique as both the staff and the clothes they stock are amazing!

If you’re shopping in Cardiff or in any of the other towns mentioned then I would definitely recommend you check this shop out!

Review of My Favourite Mascaras

I decided that I would write a post reviewing my favourite mascara, but I soon realised I use more than one mascara when applying my makeup and I am always finding a new favourite.

So instead here are my top four mascaras…

  1. Yves Saint Laurent Babydoll Mascara – Effet Faux Cils £25.00

I started using this mascara last year and I still love it as much as I did then. The brush is small and thin which is what I usually go for when choosing a mascara as it doesn’t seem to leave my eyelashes looking clumpy and spider-like. Another reason why I love this mascara so much is that not only is it easy to apply, but it lasts all day, which I think is perfect as nobody wants to have black smudges around their eyes come 5pm.

  2. Benefit They’re Real Mascara £19.50

This is the mascara I tend to go when I am going out in the evening and want a more glamourous look. I feel that this mascara does exactly what it says in the name and allows you to have a false lash effect without having to bother with actually applying any. Again the brush is still quite small which makes apply it very easy.

  3. Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara £19.00

This mascara is another which I usually use for an evening out. I tend to apply this mascara over the top of another one as it allows me to create a thick lash effect. The brush on this is slightly different from the previous two mascaras but I feel like it allows you to create more of a curl when applying it.

  4. SEVENTEEN Falsifeye HD Mascara £6.99

This mascara is a lot cheaper than the previous mascaras and I still think that it is to the same standard as them. I love this mascara for an everyday use as it extends my lashes a great deal and leaves them looking beautiful. If you’re looking for a less pricey mascara which still works wonders than I definitely recommend you try this one out.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this post and have found some new products to add to your makeup bag. Feel free to comment and let me know which is your favourite mascara and why?

Mojitea Review

This week I was introduced to The Bluebird Tea Company whilst attending a blogging event in London. As you may already know I am obsessed with herbal teas and green tea in particular, so this product stood out for me straight away.

The teabag I chose to review was one of my favourites from the wide range of teas they provide. As I am a big fan of cocktails, and Mojitos in particular, I decided to go for the Mojitea. Of course the tea doesn’t include alcohol, but the refreshing taste is exactly the same as what you would find within the cocktail. Before even drinking the tea you can smell the refreshing flavours bursting from the bag. This tea is a blend of green tea, peppermint and lime, the perfect combination.

With teas such as these you can choose to drink them hot or cold. I chose to drink my hot seeing as it was a chilly day and a hot tea always seems to wake me up in the morning. This tea definitely did the trick. The fresh taste which is revealed from this amazing tea bag allowed me to start my day off perfectly. I am very pleased with this tea and I will definitely be bulk buying my next lot.

If you are looking for a change to your regular green tea, or just looking for a refreshing tea, then I would definitely recommend trying The Bluebird Tea Company.

You will find these teas in many of your local health stores as well as online at https://bluebirdteaco.com

They have a wide range of teas to suit different tastes and I am sure you will find something you love.

Yves Saint Laurent Touche Éclat Blur Primer Review.

Like most people I have religiously used the same Primer for a while now and felt that I would never need to change it. But after swearing by Benefit’s Porefessional Primer, I decided that it wouldn’t hurt for me to try a different primer just to see if I was missing out.

I had read a lot of reviews on Yves Saint Laurent Touche Éclat Blur Primer and didn’t expect it to be as good as people had described it. But I promise you that this primer really is a god send! It actually feels like liquid gold on my skin.

With just a tiny squirt of this primer, my pores were completely blurred and my skin felt silky smooth. One of my favourite elements of the primer is that it features little bits of gold glitter within it which I adore!

The main test of a successful primer is how well it helps to keep your makeup in place and this definitely does the trick. I use this primer with the Estée Lauder Double Wear Light Foundation and if I apply it first thing in the morning, my makeup doesn’t move an inch by the time I get home, it’s amazing!

This primer doesn’t cost a lot more than the primer I previously used and at £29.50 a bottle I would definitely recommend it. The primer comes in a beautiful glass bottle and you definitely receive a generous amount. I can see this primer lasting a very long time. It’s my new favourite!
