Revolution Bristol Review

Who doesn’t love an evening filled with Burgers and Cocktails?
This week I visited Revolution Bristol to try out their new menu. With such a wide range of food and cocktails, I couldn’t wait to visit.

The venue has such great decor and I absolutely love the vibe here. The newly launched menu features many great dishes such as Pizzas, Burgers and much more. The prices are really reasonable and there are always special offers on.

The staff here were really friendly and helped me pick the best cocktail. After discussing what my favourite kind of drinks were, I decided to go with a classic Gin N Juice.

thumbnail_Screenshot_20190921_155357.jpg

Not only do the cocktails taste great, but they look absolutely incredible. These Insta Worthy drinks are definitely up there with my favourite.

thumbnail_Screenshot_20190921_155327

thumbnail_Screenshot_20190921_155310.jpg

They have such a wide range of burgers here, all of which you can customise to your taste. I decided to go for the Beat Burger, Mexican Style with added Avocado and Tomato Salsa. The Veggie Burger was Beetroot based and absolutely delicious. I decided to choose Sweet Potato fries with my burger, but you can also choose to add extra toppings to the fries.

thumbnail_Screenshot_20190921_155230

thumbnail_Screenshot_20190921_155253

The burgers are really filling, but after looking at the dessert menu we couldn’t say no. We decided to share the Chocolate Brownie with Salted Caramel Chocolate Sauce and Ice Cream, along with the Cookie Dough S’more.

Both dishes were filled with chocolate, which is my absolute favourite. The desserts are great for sharing and a delicious way to end the meal.

thumbnail_AirBrush_20190921154056

We had such a fun evening here and I can’t wait to return and try out some more of their cocktails. You can tell that there is a lot of thought put into the menu and it definitely helps make your experience here special.

The cocktails and food provided to me on this evening were gifted but all opinions are my own.

Turtle Bay Rum Tasting & Vegan Platter

With the weather constantly changing, it is hard to know what season we are really in. There may be rain, but Summer is not yet officially over.

Turtle Bay is definitely keeping the Summer vibe alive with their Caribbean style food and cocktails. To celebrate the Summer Sound Clash Festival Tour, I took part in their Rum Tasting at the Bristol Broad Quay restaurant last week.

The event allowed us to sample the fabulous menu, along with trying out the exotic rum that Turtle Bay has to offer on a day to day basis.

IMG_20190820_182642_832

The Rum Tasting event used a map of the Caribbean, to pin point exactly where each Rum is from. We then had a chance to sample the rum neat, to get a true feel of the flavour.

It was really interesting to see how the taste of Rum can be altered by mixing your taste buds with things such as Dark Chocolate, Jamaican Ginger Cake and even Oranges.

After sampling a few of the Rums, I was really interested to see what a Rum and Tonic would taste like. I am usually a Gin and Tonic kind of girl, but I must say that I was pleasantly surprised.

I tried the Foursquare Spiced ‘N’ Cranberry & Ginger Tonic. The menu describes the drink by sayingthis Bajan rum is spicy & sweet with notes of peppermint, nutmeg and gingerbread.” I really enjoyed this refreshing drink and I would definitely order it again.

IMG_20190820_183207_000

After trying out Rum from all over the Caribbean and finding out how it was produced, we were able to sample some food from the new menu. I am not usually sure about Caribbean food as a Vegetarian as there doesn’t usually seem to be an extensive menu on offer.

IMG_20190820_183207_002.jpg

The new menu at Turtle Bay goes completely against this idea as there are plenty of Vegan and Vegetarian dishes on offer. I really loved the Vegan platter, especially the Sweet Corn Fritters and Trini Doubles.

Once we had finished our food, we were able to spend the evening sipping on more Rum cocktails and enjoying the music played by the live band.

I had such a great evening at Turtle Bay and I would definitely recommend you try it out.

Aluna Bristol Menu Review

This week I was lucky enough to try out the newly launched menu at Aluna in Bristol.
Aluna is a bar based in the Bristol City Centre and is well known for it’s fabulous cocktails.  The decor in the bar is so chic and it is definitely the perfect place for a great evening out.

thumbnail_Screenshot_20190504_205747

After tasting their incredible cocktails, I was really excited to see how their menu tasted. The theme of the new menu is Asian infused, which is a cuisine I really love.

thumbnail_Screenshot_20190504_205815.jpg

Whilst deciding on our food, we tried out some of the popular cocktails on the menu. I went for the Bubblegumtini and Lava Lamp, which both tasted delicious and looked amazing.

For starters I decided to go with the Crispy Vegetable Rolls. The deep fried crispy vegetable rolls were served with a delicious plum sauce. These were some of the best spring rolls I have ever tasted.

thumbnail_Screenshot_20190504_205657

thumbnail_Screenshot_20190504_205633

For my main I was excited to try the Stir Fried Tofu with Cashew Nut. The sauce the Stir Fry was served in was absolutely delicious. I was really pleased to find that the Tofu was cooked to perfection. This is definitely a dish I will be trying again.

thumbnail_Screenshot_20190504_205549

Although I was feeling pretty full after eating both of the previous courses, I still managed to fit in a dessert. I mean we all have a separate stomach for dessert right?

I decided to go with the Mango Sorbet. I was really pleased with my choice as it was such a refreshing and fruity dish. The portion size was perfect and it was definitely what I needed to complete a delicious meal.

thumbnail_Screenshot_20190504_205448

I had such a lovely evening at Aluna and I was pleasantly surprised with the standard of the food. They are definitely a lot more than just a cocktail bar.
If you’re looking for a great night out in Bristol, then I would recommend you try this place out.

I was gifted this meal by Aluna, but all opinions, pictures and words are my own.

Art Bar at Abbey Hotel Bath

Living in Bristol, I often spend my time visiting Bath and exploring the amazing heritage and culture that the city has to offer. With that in mind, I was delighted to hear that there was a newly refurbished addition to the city and I couldn’t wait to find out more.

The Art Bar in the Abbey Hotel has recently been renovated and completely transformed into a venue which showcases some incredible pieces of art, whilst allowing people to mingle and socialise in a great atmosphere.

thumbnail_Screenshot_20190426_224330

The decor in the Art Bar is absolutely amazing. The textures and colours work wonderfully together to help create a fresh and contemporary vibe.

thumbnail_IMG_20190416_180650_resized_20190426_100843170

It was wonderful to be able to visit the first Redefined exhibit, curated by Bath artist Emma Taylor. The exhibit uses the space within the Art Bar to showcase some fabulous pieces by local artists such as James Nunn, Emma Trussler, Jean Farrell, Rob Highton and Emma Taylor herself.

thumbnail_IMG_20190416_181317_resized_20190426_100844515

One thing that I really love about the Art Bar, is the fact that the Art showcased within the bar will be forever rotating. This allows local artists to have a space in which they can show the public some of their amazing work.

The artwork is not just presented on the walls of the Art Bar, there are also sketch books placed throughout the bar, allowing customers to flick through some of the artists work and get a real feel for their inspiration and talent.

thumbnail_IMG_20190416_180634_resized_20190426_100843353

Along with the incredible decor and theme, the Art Bar serves some incredible cocktails. My favourite being their signature cocktail, Artistic License. This Gin based cocktail works wonderfully with the quirky and colourful atmosphere.

thumbnail_Screenshot_20190426_224213

If you are looking for a great place to spend your evening, then I would definitely recommend you check out the Art Bar. With fabulous artwork and cocktails, this really is a place you won’t want to miss.

The Slug and Lettuce Cocktail Masterclass

Recently I was lucky enough to be invited along to The Slug and Lettuce at the Harbourside in Bristol. The venue has recently been given a floral refurbishment and it looks absolutely incredible.

As soon as I walked through the door my eyes were drawn to the decor of this place. Being welcomed by a beautiful flower tree and the cutest gin bar was definitely what I needed after a hard days work.

thumbnail_IMG_20190321_175733_resized_20190331_080833217

thumbnail_IMG_20190321_182121_resized_20190331_080832591

I was greeted by the wonderful staff and an ice cold glass of bubbly. We were then shown to our table in order for us to get ready for our cocktail masterclass. As somebody who loves cocktails, I was really excited to see what the night would bring.

thumbnail_IMG_20190321_184316_1_resized_20190331_080833834

The mixologist in charge of the night was incredibly knowledgeable and very helpful. We started by making a classic Mojito. It was great to see what ingredients we needed and I am confident that after lots of practise, that I have now mastered the technique

thumbnail_IMG_20190321_193603_resized_20190331_080738359

We then went on to make some fruity martinis which were my favourite. I really enjoyed learning how to get the perfect combination of flavours.

After learning how to create my favourite drink, I will definitely be getting the ingredients and making one at home.

thumbnail_IMG_20190321_204930_resized_20190331_080735318 (1)

After making and drinking several cocktails, it was great to be able to look around and explore the newly refurbished bar. I really loved the neon lighting and flower wall. This place is the perfect place for taking cute photos with your friends.

thumbnail_IMG_20190321_181817_resized_20190331_080835349

thumbnail_IMG_20190321_181549_resized_20190331_080832266

I couldn’t find a single inch of the venue that was not decorated beautifully. Even the toilets look incredibly detailed. I was really impressed with how different the venue looked. The theme fits perfectly with the upcoming seasons.

thumbnail_IMG_20190321_182841_1_resized_20190331_080832444

I had such a great evening at The Slug and Lettuce and the cocktails were absolutely incredible. If you’re looking for a place to go in Bristol, then I would definitely recommend this place. They also have 2 for 1 cocktails, so it would be rude not to!

This evening was gifted to me by The Slug and Lettuce, but all opinions and photographs are my own.

An evening at Revolucion De Cuba

Last week I was invited along to try out the menu at Revolución de Cuba. Situated on the Harbourside in Bristol, Revolución de Cuba has recently opened it’s door to showcase Latin inspired food, tasty cocktails and sensational carnival entertainment.

On arrival we were greeted with some funky Cuban props, which really started off the evening well. The staff at this restaurant are all very attentive and friendly, something which is always important to me when visiting a new restaurant.

thumbnail_IMG_0678

After browsing through the cocktail menu, we decided to pick our drinks. As a gin lover, it was only right for me to pick the Supersonic Gin and Tonic. This cocktail contains Bombay Sapphire Gin, with a Fever-Tree Refresinghly Light Tonic, topped with a Boozy Strawberry Lemonade Sorbet, which is loaded with even more Bombay Sapphire. I don’t think I could have thought of a better combination myself.

thumbnail_IMG_0660

The menu features a mixture of tapas dishes and main plates. For a starter it is recommend that you share three plates between two people. We decided to pick two vegetarian options and then a meaty option for my boyfriend to try.  The two dishes I tried were the Halloumi Tacos and the Patatas Bravas.

thumbnail_IMG_0663

thumbnail_IMG_0661

The Patatas Bravas was served with a Spicy Tomato sauce and Garlic Aioli. This dish is a classic, and we definitely enjoyed tucking into it.

I have to say that the Halloumi Tacos were one of the tastiest dishes I had ever tried. The Tacos were filled with Halloumi, Courgette, Butternut Squash and lightly coated in Chilli Jam. If you are thinking of trying out Revolución de Cuba, then this dish is a must.

thumbnail_IMG_0664

For my main, I decided to go for the Mushroom, Bean and Spinach Burrito. I absolutely love Burritos and it was great to have a great variety of fillings inside. The homemade guacamole was the perfect addition to this dish.

Even though we were feeling pretty full after this dish, we decided to order another cocktail and look through the dessert menu

thumbnail_IMG_0653

As it’s now December, it was only right that we tried the new Christmas special cocktail, Jamaican Me Festive. This cocktail features Appleton Estate, Koko Kanu, Cranberry, Lime, Cinnamon, Apple and then topped with a Chocolate Coin! We were really impressed with this cocktail and it definitely got us into the festive spirit.

After sipping on our cocktails, we decided to order our dessert. After one look at the menu I had already known what to pick. Of course I decided to go for the Pornstar Pavlova. The dish consisted of a meringe, covered in mango and strawberry salsa, blackberries and saucy passion fruit. This was then topped with prosecco-whipped cream and then served with a small glass of prosecco on the side. Sound perfect doesn’t it?

thumbnail_IMG_0674

I was so impressed with every course of my meal. The food was absolutely delicious and the cocktails were fantastic. I will definitely be returning to try out some more of the tapas dishes they have to offer.

thumbnail_IMG_0691 (1)

Thank you to the team at Revolución de Cuba in Bristol for having us, we cannot wait to return!

The food and drink provided on the evening was gifted to me by Revolución de Cuba, but all opinions are my own.

Felson’s Cocktail Lounge and Stick Hall

I was recently invited along to experience an evening at Felson’s Cocktail Lounge and Stick Hall in Bristol. The stylish venue can be found on Corn Street, serving up tasty food, fabulous drinks and pool tables to keep you entertained all night long.

P8090060.JPG

We were given our own pool table, with a seating area ready for us to try out their food and drinks. The atmosphere for the venue is incredible and I was so excited to spend the evening there.

After playing several games we worked up quite an appetite. I decided to try the Veggie Burger, a sweetcorn, coriander and chilli fritter topped with Halloumi. It was served with sweet potato fries and onions. The portions in the Felson’s are huge and my meal was absolutely delicious.

My boyfriend tried the SFC Double Down Burger, a dish of two spicy southern fried chicken burgers sandwiched between melted cheese and bacon. His was also served with sweet potato fries and onion rings on the side. Our plates were left empty and our tummys were full.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

P8090080.JPG

After stuffing our faces we ordered some of the signature cocktails on the menu. I decided to go for the G is for Gin, a combination of Tanqueray No.10 Gin, Elderflower and Prosecco. This was the ultimate combination. My boyfriend tried the Raspberry Bramble, a mixture of Tanqueray Gin with framboise puree, blended with lemon and sugar syrup. As you can tell we love gin and these cocktails did not disappoint.

thumbnail_IMG_7552

We decided it would also be great to try some of the traditional cocktails on the menu. I went for my  favourite, a Pornstar Martini and my boyfriend went for a Strawberry Daiquiri.  These definitely lived up to the name. Like all the drinks we tried, they were really tasty and well presented.

thumbnail_IMG_7555

I had such a great evening and I absolutely love this venue. It is in the perfect location and would be great for any occasion. You can hire out VIP lounges for special occasions or simply walk in for a night of fun.

Thank you to Felson’s for a fantastic evening. We loved the whole concept of the venue and we will definitely be returning for a rematch.

Sholay Indian Kitchen

If you’re from Bristol, then you may already know about the hidden gem that is Wapping Wharf. The vibrant community can be found just off Bristol Harbourside, behind M-Shed. The area is filled with many cafes, bars and restaurants, along with some quirky shops.

Amongst the area, based in Cargo 2, is where you will find Sholay Indian Kitchen. The funky and colourful restaurant, serves up tasty Indian dishes, both big and small, to suit all of your needs.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

After hearing great things about the restaurant, I decided to head over and try it out for myself. As Wapping Wharf is only a short walk away from my house, it was the perfect place to go on a summer evening.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Whilst we decided on our food, we decide to try out the drinks they had to offer. My boyfriend decided to go for a Kingfisher Beer and I went the Sholay Mojito. This cocktail is a passion fruit twist on the original and I absolutely loved it. The cocktail came with a bamboo straw which I thought was a great touch.

P8080044.JPG

To start I went for the famous Sholay Chaat. Not only does this dish look absolutely incredible, but it tasted amazing. The dish features the perfect combination of samosas and chickpeas, both zesty and sweet.

My boyfriend chose the Hara Bhara Kebab which I had to try. These were really tasty and worked brilliantly with the sauce. I will definitely be returning to the restaurant to try out these veggie dishes again.

P8080052.JPG

Then it was time for our main. I can honestly say this was one of the nicest dishes I have ever tasted. I am getting hungry just thinking about it.

The Baingan Moilee was a beautifully presented vegetarian dish, filled with mashed potato, aubergines and a mouth watering coconut milk sauce. Words cannot describe the flavours in this dish. If you are planning on visiting this restaurant then I would absolutely recommend this dish.

P8080054.JPG

My boyfriend decided to try the Masala Fish for his main which he loved. I can’t comment on the taste myself as I don’t eat fish, but he was definitely impressed with this dish.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Overall I am so impressed with Sholay Indian Kitchen. The food is so colourful and full of flavour. The menu works perfectly with the location and I can’t fault the service.
This place is definitely one to watch.

Thank you to Sholay Indian Kitchen for having us and providing us with these incredible dishes, we will definitely be returning soon!

The Square Kitchen Bristol – Spring Menu

thumbnail_IMG_5615

Last week my boyfriend and I were lucky enough to try out the new Spring Menu at The Square Kitchen. The Square Kitchen is a restaurant located in Berkeley Square, Bristol which serves the most beautifully presented dishes.

To begin we were presented with a goats cheese appetiser which was absolutely delicious. Not only did it taste great, but it looked incredible too.

thumbnail_IMG_5612

To start I picked the Homemade Breadboard, which came with butter and salt, whilst my boyfriend picked the Dressed Crab with avocado and creme fraiche mousse, cucumber and heritage tomato. As a vegetarian I didn’t try this, but he loved it and said it was really tasty.

For the main event, I chose the Lentil & Barley Pudding, which was dressed with Jerusalem artichoke, white bean & garlic. I loved this dish, as it was full of flavour and worked perfectly. As a vegetarian it can be a struggle finding a dish that is vegetarian yet still full of flavour, but The Square Kitchen definitely pulled it off.

thumbnail_ACS_0079

My boyfriend decided to try the Grilled Octopus, Confit Chicken Ballotine, Chorizo and Braized Baby Gem dish. He described it as being a fresh, light dish that is perfect for summer.

thumbnail_IMG_5619

By this point we were extremely full, but as always, we made room for dessert.  We both chose the Aerated Chocolate, Honeycomb, Vanilla Fudge. It was one of the best desserts I have ever tasted. The aerated chocolate melted beautifully on my tongue and the honeycomb and vanilla fudge were to die for. They made the perfect trio.

IMG_5621

After dinner we had the chance to go down to the bar and try out some cocktails. As it was a lovely day we ventured out to their secret garden. The have a huge seating area which would be perfect for these upcoming months. The cocktails were delicious and I could have spent all evening there.

thumbnail_IMG_5613

Overall we both really enjoyed our evening at The Square Kitchen and we look forward to returning very soon. It’s in a great location and has a wonderful atmosphere. I would definitely recommend you check it out.
