If you’ve vowed to start 2018 by being as positive and happy as you possibly can, then I would definitely recommend you give this book a read.

Usually self help books don’t appeal to me as I seem to have a pre-determined view of them being extremely boring and not something that I would interested in. But after hearing so many great things about this book, I was definitely impressed.

One thing that I absolutely love about this book is that fact that you only need to read a chapter a day. It’s the perfect for your journey to work, or even on your lunch break. Each chapter gives you a new challenge to follow, allowing you to gently bring the tips and values into your everyday life.

I would recommend you keep a notepad handy whilst reading this book as it’s very interactive and it definitely keeps your brain awake. It encourages self worth and really helps you remember to think positive and enjoy your life to the full.

This book alone has definitely gave me a new outlook on life and you can definitely see an improvement in your own thoughts just through the first couple of chapters.

If you’re thinking of picking up a new book, then I would definitely recommend you check this one out.

Beauty Beach Essentials

As I am going on holiday in a few days I thought it would be good to write a post letting you all know what I plan to take with me in my beach bag.

I love my Lulu Traveler Pouch from LYDC and I will definitely be taking it with me when I go to the beach!

My bag contains a mixture of beauty and skincare products, along with a good book which is essential for the beach. I am loving Adore Me’s #BeachDayMusts swim and sexy lingerie range and I hope you enjoy my post as much as I love the others I have read! Hopefully I will inspire you to start thinking about what you will pack in your beach bag this year.

The first product I put in my bag is definitely the most essential item, that being my sunscreen. This year I was lucky enough to try out a new Ladival Sun Protection and it’s fair to say I love it! The bottle I use is SPF 15 and it has an advanced infrared-a protection system which makes it much more effective than other sunscreens. I also love this product due to the fact that it doesn’t leave a gross scent behind, instead you are left with lovely moisturised and non-sticky skin.

When I am on the beach I don’t tend to wear foundation as I like my face to tan and also to give my skin a chance to breathe, but two products I do use are a highlighter and a bronzer. Both products I use are a powder form and I feel that they give my skin a glowing finish without having to be caked in makeup. The highlighter I tend to use on a hot day is the Make-up Revolution VIVID Baked Highlighter. This product is so cheap so at only £3 I am not afraid to take it to the beach with me.

I also take a mini Hoola Bronzer by Benefit with me. I also have the full sized version of this product but I don’t like carrying it with me to the beach in case it cracks. Similar to the highlighter, this bronzer glides across my skin so smoothly and is also very pigmented. I love this bronzer in any weather but it definitely adds to the perfect summer glow.

Along with these makeup products, I also like to take the nail varnish which I am currently using in my bag with me to cover up any unwanted chips. My new beach favourite is the Rimmel 60 Seconds polish in the colour 430 Coralicious. This varnish dries super quick and the colour is amazing. Along with this polish, I also like to bring my Nina Ricci perfume with me in order to top up on the fruity summer scent throughout the day.

One product which I particularly find handy if you plan on going for lunch straight from the beach is the Bastiste Tropical Dry Shampoo. It only takes a few sprays of this dry shampoo to leave your hair feeling fresh and smelling beautiful.

After making sure I have all my beauty products in my beach bag, I always make sure that I have a good book ready to read and relax with on the beach. At the moment I am reading The Ship by Antonia Honeywell. The book is set in a dystopian world where the people of London are fighting to stay alive. If you’re looking for an adventurous book to take with you this summer I definitely recommend this one!

Last but not least I will be making sure that I have my Cat Eye sunglasses with me from Accessorize. If you’re looking for a new pair of stylish sunglasses then you should take a look at their amazing new range. They are the perfect accessory for a day at the beach!

I hope you have enjoyed this post and I would love to hear what you have in your beach bag!

Cameron Diaz: The Body Book Review

I haven’t posted anything for here for a very long time and I could make all sorts of excuses about the amount of uni work I’ve had and how I spend all my spare time at work, but the truth is I completely forgot I even had a blog (embarrassing I know). One thing I have been doing though which I felt was important to share with you all, is trying to read all of the books on my bookshelf. Emphasis on the word trying as it’s very hard to read them all, especially as I constantly seem to buy books and forget that I actually have to read them.

One in particular which I purchased last year whilst at University is The Body Book. This is Cameron Diaz‘s book and I didn’t buy it because I am a huge fan of her or anything, it was actually recommended to me by a friend. In fact, I know a lot of people who bought this book and I am not entirely sure they read it all, but I managed to finish it the other day.

When I first got this book, I hoped it wouldn’t be the same as some other silly ‘diet‘ books which I have came across. Luckily I was right. This book honestly not what I expected it to be. It focuses a lot on how the body works, along with information and advice on health and fitness, all which is based on her own life experience.

I enjoyed this book as it did not seem as if she was telling you that you had to do something in order to be happy with yourself, instead she explained what was best to be a healthier and happier you. This book is good as it gives advice on life, not a set of strict instructions to gain your dream body.

My favourite part of the book was Part Three. This section is labelled ‘Mind‘ and focuses a lot on relaxation. She explains ways in which you can be at peace with yourself and generally happy in life. I felt by this point that I had gained a lot of trust in Cameron, mainly because I underestimated how knowledgeable she is. I feel horrible saying this but she is also a lot more intelligent than I ever had imagined, the knowledge she shares throughout the book is amazing.

After reading this book I felt determined to have a lifestyle like hers, obviously I wouldn’t become a famous actress, but she seems very content with her life. This book has helped me gain a lot of respect for Cameron Diaz and I definitely recommend it – you can even borrow my copy if you wish!
