ELF Makeup Review

Like a lot of us, I have recently been on a mission to find quality make-up products that are not tested on animalsI thought it would be hard, but it’s a lot easier than I imaged. Brands such as Too Faced, Kat Von D and The Body Shop are all animal friendly and don’t test their products on animals. I recently found that ELF don’t test on animals either, so I thought I would purchase some of their products and test them out.

I have previously used a few of ELF’s products before as they used to have a small boutique in Cardiff which was great. All of their products are reasonably priced, but as they don’t sell their products in any stores near me, buying online makes it that little bit harder. After finding out that they had a Spring Sale on, I decided to buy a few of their products and hope for the best.

I must admit that some of the products I ordered were slightly disappointing. Mainly because I had picked the wrong shade in some of the concealing products, but also the lip glosses I purchased were a bit too sticky for me. With that being said, there were some products I absolutely loved.

ELF Blemish Control Face Primer

Out of all the products I purchased, this was definitely my favourite. I have used this product every day since receiving it and I am so impressed. As someone who suffers with problematic skin, I was intrigued to see if this product would live up to its name. Not only is it a great primer that keeps your make up in tact, but it has also left my skin looking much clearer than usual. It’s not a heavy primer which leaves your skin feeling very light and fresh.

ELF Flawless Finish Foundation – Light Ivory

This foundation is a buildable full coverage foundation, which is perfect for an evening look. When used with the Blemish Control Primer it can be very long lasting. One thing to note is that the foundation leaves you with a matte finish. I love a matte texture, but if you have dry skin I’m not sure if it would work as well.

ELF Made for Matte Eye Shadow Palette

I am so pleased I purchased this palette! I think I have used it everyday since purchasing it. It has the perfect nude tones which can be worn for any occasion. The shadows are very pigmented and like the foundation, stays put all day.

ELF Prism Eye Shadow Palette

The second palette I purchased is full with beautiful shimmery shadows. I have used some of the lighter shades as highlighters as they give the perfect glow. Like the previous eye shadow palette, these shades are so pigmented. I can’t get over how amazing these palettes are considering as they cost less than £10 each!

ELF Highlighter – Moonlight Pearls

As always, I couldn’t test out a makeup brand without purchasing one of their highlighters. This champagne toned highlighter was only £5! The pot is quite small, similar to a single eye shadow pot, which can be very handy for travelling. I love the tone to this highlighter and like many of ELF’s products, it feels really light on the skin. I have been using this as my everyday highlighter and it’s definitely worth the money.

I am really pleased that I purchased these products from ELF. Not only are they a great brand for not testing on animals, but their products are reasonably priced. If you’re looking to try out a new brand, then I would definitely recommend you purchase some of ELF’s products.

Have you tried any of ELF’s products before? I’d love to hear your thoughts on the brand x

You may have previously read my review on the Australian Bodycare Tea Tree Skin Wash which I absolutely loved, so I was keen to try out another one of the their products.

If you didn’t get a chance to check out my review I will give you a quick introduction to the brand. Australian Bodycare is a company which uses Tea Tree Oil in it’s products in order to clear the skin from any harmful bacteria. They sell many products skincare products ranging from cleansers to moisturisers, which all aim to leave our skin feeling the best it possibly can.

thumbnail_ACS_0032.jpg

I recently decided to try out their Any Time Balm. This multi-purpose balm is aimed at relieving dry or chapped skin, lips, cuticles and nails.

The product is super easy to use as you just need to warm the balm in your hand and apply to affected area. As with most of the products there is a strong Tea Tree scent to the balm which I find incredibly refreshing.

thumbnail_ACS_0031

I have mainly been using this product on my hands and lips and I am really impressed with the result. The Tea Tree Oil in the product leaves your skin feeling really soft and refreshed, along with filling the area with moisture. This product has been a blessing through these cold months and I am so pleased to have been able to try it out.

The product comes in a 30 ml tub which is perfect for carrying around in your handbag or pocket. It’s a really handy product to have and I definitely recommend you check it out.

Amphora Aromatics Review

After recently discovering a new organic and locally based brand, I was so excited to test out some of their products. Amphora Aromatics have more than 30 years’ experience in creating amazing aromatherapy products. They use high quality ingredients from independent producers around the world, which is definitely reflected in their products.

The company prides itself in creating high quality products, yet still being able to sell them at a reasonable price.

thumbnail_ACS_0012

The first product that I am obsessing over is from the essentials collection is the Sandalwood and Palmavosa Moisturising Face Lotion. One of the reasons why I love this face lotion is that it’s incredibly light on the skin. The refreshing fragrance is the perfect scent to get you ready for the day.

I’ve been using this product for just over a week and it’s a huge impact on my face. I love using it in the morning as it’s the perfect base to apply my makeup, or to simply leave my skin feeling refreshed. It really does protect your skin from the cold winter months and leaves it feeling silky smooth.

Aromathereapy Range_Instagram 1080x1080px

The second product I tried out was the Sleep blend from their Aromatherapy Blend collection. Amphora Aromatics have six new blends, all of which are 100% pure. The range includes Sleep, Energise, Revive, Focus, Relax and Festive. They can be used in diffusers or burners to help promote relaxation and well being.

These oils are priced at just £7.50, which is incredible value for money.

I tried out SleepComforting

“A relaxing and balancing blend of Juniper, Patchouli and Lavender gently soothes you to sleep. Comforting and warming Orange, Marjoram and Howood help combat insomnia by working to calm restlessness and anxiety – promoting peace and tranquillity. “           www.amphora-retail.com

Like many of us, I spend most of my week stressing out at work and drinking way too much coffee for my own good. Unfortunately this is regularly reflected in my sleeping pattern. With this in mind, I was excited to try out this blend and see if it would make a genuine difference to my routine.

Not only did this help me have a incredible nights sleep, I felt much more relaxed and stress-free in the evenings. This product definitely helps you chill out and it’s something I will be continuing to use for a long time.

If you’re looking for some natural and locally sourced products, then I definitely recommend you check out this brand. They’re based on Cotham Hill, Bristol or you can find them online at www.amphora-retail.com

Health & Beauty Bristol Blogger Event

I recently attended a Blogging event in which Health and Beauty bloggers and brands met to collaborate and socialise with each other.

The event was held at the Bristol City Centre Marriott Hotel. On arrival we were greeted with an amazing spread of delicious sweets and treats. I was so impressed with the decor in the hotel. The room we used was themed with Bristol’s greatest attractions and some incredible artwork. Below is a feature wall which I automatically fell in love with.

thumbnail_ACS_0001

Not only was the atmosphere incredible, but the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. If you’re looking for a place to stay in Bristol, then I would definitely recommend you check out this hotel as it’s in the perfect location and you will get a real taste of Bristol

thumbnail_ACS_0002.jpg

I really enjoyed socialising with other bloggers and it was great to hear what others are truly passionate about. Along with meeting like minded bloggers, there were some really great local based brands at the event. The brands featured at the event were Amphora Aromatics, The Somerset Toiletry Company, Shy Mimosa Perfumery, Scentered, Grace Emmerson and The Pilates Room. All of which were incredibly friendly. I can’t wait to try out some of their lovely products for myself.

Thank you so much to Heather Cowper for organising the event. It was a really good opportunity to socialise and collaborate with some brilliant people. I’d also like to thank The Marriot Hotel for having us all, it was a great evening and I really enjoyed myself.

If you’re currently starting up your own blog then I would definitely recommend attending a local blogging event in your area. It’s a great place to pick up tips from like minded people and help get your name out there.

Barry M – In the Glow Body Oil Review

thumbnail_IMG_2483

After returning from my summer holidays, I am devastated to see that my tan has started to fade away. Although it has not left me completely pale, I have been looking for a product which keeps the little bit of tan I have left looking healthy and natural.

Whilst browsing several reviews I saw great recommends on bronzing oils. I’m sure most of you have heard of Estee Lauder and The Body Shop bronzing oils, which seemed to be the most popular and reviewed oils.

As these oils can be quite pricey, I decided to look for a cheaper alternative. After searching my local Boots for a budget version, I came across In The Glow by Barry M. At £7.99 this product is less than half of the price of many other well know oils so I jumped at the chance to try it.

My main worry when trying out this oil was that I would end up orange, or that it would transfer on to my clothes straight away. But after applying the product and leaving it to dry for a good 5-10 minutes, it didn’t budge at all. I was also impressed with the fact that it didn’t give off a horrible scent, which is always a bonus.

I was confident enough to wear a white top after using this product and it did not smudge on to my clothing at all. The oil dries perfectly and gives you an extra glow without covering you in glitter.

If you’re looking to try out a cheap bronzing oil then I definitely recommend you give this one a go!

The Body Shop Tea Tree Anti-Imperfection Daily Solution Review

thumbnail_IMG_1860

If you have read any of my previous blog posts you will know how obsessed I am with The Body Shop’s Tea Tree range. When I am having a bad skin day I always turn to their products to help me out.

Whilst doing my usual shop in The Body Shop, I came across the Anti-Imperfection Daily Solution. The product promotes itself as being a light weight serum which can be used daily to produce clearer, healthier and mattified skin.

The product comes in a glass bottle and has a droplet applicator attached to it.

After using this product for a few weeks I have definitely noticed a difference in my skin. I have been using the product both day and night and I have noticed my skin has definitely reduced in oiliness. It has also helped reduce the redness on any blemishes I have had, whilst minimising pores.

I love using this product as it makes my skin feel extremely soft and refreshed. I feel as though this product will last me a lifetime as you only need three or four drops each time.

As always The Body Shop have impressed me with this product and it will definitely be a product I will continue using.

I’d love to hear which products you love from The Body Shop.

xoxo

Australian Bodycare Tea Tree Skin Wash

australian_body_care_body_prods.jpg

After years of using harsh face scrubs and washes in an attempt to have clear skin, I have finally found a product which helps clear up imperfections, whilst soothing the skin.

Australian Bodycare is a brand which specialises in Tea Tree Oil products, the magic ingredient in solving any skin problems. The brand offer a huge range of products, including oils, lotions, skincare and hair products.

I decided to try out their skin wash as it was described as a daily antiseptic wash to help prevent against spot causing bacteria.

The one issue I was concerned about before using this product, was that it might leave my skin looking dull and dried out. I couldn’t have been more wrong.

As the skin wash has a neutral pH balance, it doesn’t harm sensitive skin and it did not dry out my skin at all. I have been using this skin wash every day for the past few weeks and it has left my skin feeling squeaky clean.

For somebody who has very problematic skin, I was impressed to see that my blemishes had cleared up and I have definitely seen a reduction in break outs.

I love using this skin wash in the mornings as it leaves my skin feeling super fresh.

If you have sensitive or problematic skin, then I would definitely recommend you give this skin wash a try!

My Favourite Body Shop Skincare Products!

I recently stocked up on my favourite skincare products and decided to share them with you guys.

I love The Body Shop, which is reflected on the fact that nearly all of my skincare products are purchased from there.

As my skin is very prone to blemishes, I tend to stick to the Tea Tree range as it works wonders for my face.  My skin also seems to dry up during winter, so I always make sure I have plenty of moisturising products at hand

Here is a quick run down of my favourite products from The Body Shop.

thumbnail_fullsizerender

The Body Shop – Tea Tree Mattifying Lotion.

This product is perfect for when your skin is looking oily, shiny and full of blemishes.  After just one just this product you can definitely see the results. It reduces pore size and leaves your skin looking fresh and ready to go.

thumbnail_img_0037

The Body Shop – Tea Tree Pore Minimiser.

This products works wonders when used with the Tea Tree Mattifying Lotion.
The Pore Minimiser does exactly what it says on the bottle and minimises any pores you have. I also use this product as a primer before applying my makeup and it really does keep everything in tact.

thumbnail_img_0031

The Body Shop – Vitamin E Moisture Cream.

This face cream is my go-to product when my skin is feeling dull and dry. I use this product both day and night, leaving my skin feeling hydrated and refreshed. The product itself isn’t too heavy on the skin which I love. It doesn’t make your skin break out either which is always a plus!

thumbnail_img_0035

The Body Shop – Tea Tree Skin Clearing Clay Mask.

If you’ve read any of my previous posts you will know how much I love this product. I make sure I use it at least once a week, as the results are incredible!
If you’re having a breakout just in time for an important event (which always seems to be the case for me), then I would definitely recommend you purchase this product.

I guarantee that you will see the results over night.
It has definitely helped me out in the past and I will continue to purchase this product until I die!

I hope you’ve enjoyed this post and it would be great to hear what other products you enjoy from The Body Shop!

Chanel Perfection Lumiere Velvet Foundation

thumbnail_img_2717

Winter has arrived and my skin is slowly adjusting to this freezing cold weather.

Last week I decided that I needed to fix up my skincare and makeup routine in order to stop my skin turning into a dry and flaky mess.

Usually I love using thick and full coverage foundations such as Double Wear, but the truth is, a lot of the full coverage foundations I try can be VERY drying. I feel like no matter what I am wearing underneath my foundation, the moisture will always be sucked out and my skin is often left feeling deflated.
Obviously I’m not writing this post to slate Double Wear in any way because it’s usually my go-to foundation, but in the winter I just need something more suited to my skin.

So this is where Chanel Perfection Lumiere Velvet steps in. As I was passing through House of Fraser last week, I decided to try out some of the foundations Chanel had to offer. I explained to the lovely lady at the counter that my skin had become very dry lately, but that I still wanted a full coverage foundation. She advised me to try out Chanel Perfection Lumiere Velvet as it has more of a velvety texture (hence the name), rather than a thick, sticky texture.

thumbnail_img_2714

I was matched to the shade Beige 20, and after using it for a week, I can honestly say it’s one of the best foundations I have ever tried. Not only does it last all day, but it feels so lightweight on my skin and covers almost every blemish!

I couldn’t believe that I hadn’t tried this foundation before. It’s amazing how different my skin feels after using it. I finally have moisture back in my skin, even on the coldest of days. The texture of the foundation is so soft and easy to work with which I love.

thumbnail_img_2699

If you’re looking to switch up your foundation for Christmas then I would definitely recommend this one – it’s amazing!

Five New Skincare Favourites

When it comes to skincare I usually stick to the same old products, but this time I have decided to venture out and try some new products.

By doing so I have found some amazing products I feel that I should definitely share with you guys. So here are my top five skincare products – I recommend you give at least one of these a go!

thumbnail_FullSizeRender (4).jpg

No7 Beautiful Skin Quick Thinking Wipes.

When it comes to removing makeup I tend to try and cleanse and remove my makeup without using wipes, but when you’re in a rush or on the go, these wipes are just what you need.

Admittedly these wipes cost slightly more than the average face wipes, but you can definitely see the difference just after one use. These wipes remove waterproof mascara, along with the toughest of foundations. They also leave your skin feeling silky smooth and refreshed, which it what I absolutely love about them. If you fancy treating yourself to a new skincare product then you should definitely give these easy use wipes a go.

thumbnail_fullsizerender-1

Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair.

After recently attending an Estée Lauder blogging event, I was generously given the chance to try out this amazing product. This serum is the perfect fix for when your skin is feeling dehydrated and a lack of sleep has taken its toll.

By simply applying a small amount to your face before bed, you are guaranteed to wake up with a softer and more even skin tone. This product is so easy to use and it really does leave you feeling like you’ve had a luxury facial.

thumbnail_fullsizerender-3

Heaven Bee Polish with Organic Raw Cane Sugar & ABEETOXIN.

This Bee Polish by Heaven is an amazing product which helps reduce fine lines and any signs of aging. I particularly this product as it is great on sensitive skin, as well and leaving your skin feeling silky smooth.

After just one use you can immediately see your skin becoming more plump and firm. This product is the perfect anti-aging treatment and takes minutes to use.

thumbnail_fullsizerender-2

Estée Lauder Take It Away Makeup Remover Lotion.

This lotion is one of my favourite makeup removal products. By adding a small amount of the product, it is amazing how much makeup is broken down and removed from your skin.

This product particularly works well with Estée Lauder Double Wear Foundation. If you wear the foundation yourself, you will know how tough it can be to remove. But by using a small amount of this product, the foundation and any other waterproof mascara is removed without a trace being left behind. The lotion also leaves your skin feeling silky smooth and moisturised in the process.

8945065066526

Nivea Daily Essentials Rich Regenerating Night Cream.

When it comes to night cream I have so many different products its hard to decide which ones really work. After just a week of trying out this product, my skin was visibly more hydrated and any dark patches or blemishes seemed to disappear.

I purchased this product whilst it was on offer, paying less than £3.00 for it. With the price being as low as it is, along with the quality being of such a high standard, I definitely recommend you include this essential cream into your daily skincare routine.

I hope you have enjoyed reading my review on these skincare products and I would love to hear what products you are loving at the moment!
xoxo
