Jo Malone Hand and Arm Massage

Doesn’t everybody need a pamper every once in a while?

Last week a friend and I headed down to our local Jo Malone in Harvey Nichols, to try out their complimentary Hand and Arm Massage.

thumbnail_img_2094

After a long day at work, we were both ready for a good pamper.

I absolutely love Jo Malone. I don’t think that there is a scent of there’s that I do not like. With that in mind, I was excited to try out this service and see if there were any new scents that I could try.

On arrival we were greeted with some lovely chocolates and fresh lemon water. We then had the chance to go through some of the scents that they thought would best suit us.

thumbnail_IMG_2103.jpg

My favourite Jo Malone scent is usually Pomegranate Noir, but this time I decided to go with something a little different. The scent I chose was Velvet Rose and Oud. This was a more musky scent than I would usually go for, but I absolutely loved it.

thumbnail_img_2100

The massage started off with the Velvet Rose and Oud Shower Oil. This Shower Oil felt incredibly light and left my skin feeling silky smooth.

After my skin was all lathered up and clean, the Velvet Rose and Oud Body Creme was massaged into my skin.

I felt really relaxed after this, I nearly fell asleep! After using both of these products, my skin smelt delicious.

The treatment was then topped off with a spritz of the Velvet Rose and Oud Cologne Intense.

After our treatment was over, we were given some samples of the products that were used on this. This was great as we were able to repeat the routine at home.

I had such a lovely time visiting the Jo Malone counter. If you haven’t tried out their complimentary services before, it is something I would definitely recommend.

The Perfect Hunkemöller Present

During winter there is nothing I love more than snuggling up on the sofa and watching Christmas films. Every year I am on the look out for a new fluffy dressing gown to accompany me in this ritual.

I personally don’t think I can think of a better Christmas present to receive than a fresh set of soft pyjamas or a cosy dressing gown that you can live in this season.

This year I have found the perfect place to purchase my cosy lounge wear. Hunkemöller is a clothing company based in the Netherlands and they stock the cutest lingerie and nightwear. Not only is their nightwear fashionable, but their products are extremely well made and the quality is amazing.

thumbnail_IMG_0854

Since receiving this Fleece Robe from Hunkemöller, I haven’t been able to take it off. The fleece material so soft and cosy, it is perfect to keep you warm at home this Christmas.

If you are looking for a Christmas gift idea, then this should definite be on your list. It is also great if you are just wanting to treat yourself, I mean isn’t that what Christmas is really about?

If you want to try out the amazing products they have to have to offer, head over to their website and have a look for yourself. They stock a range of sizes and styles to suit everybody.

This product was gifted to me by Hunkemöller, but all opinions are my own.

A night with Jewel Street – The Florist Bristol

thumbnail_IMG_6616

This week I was lucky enough to be invited to a fabulous event in connection with Jewel Street. The event was in order to celebrate the brand and introduce their SS18 Look Book.

Jewel Street is a brand that supports independent jewellery designers by giving them an online platform to promote their hand crafted and quality pieces. Jewellery from Jewel Street has been spotted on several celebs, with the likes of Cardi B, Khloe Kardashian and Rihanna to name a few.

The event was hosted by the fabulous Karina Marriott who made us all feel incredibly welcome. She did a fantastic job at introducing us to the brand and the different designers they work with.

It was great to hear about a brand who create unique pieces of jewellery that can be personalised and created to your choice.

I really love seeing somebody be passionate about a brand, as it allows you to put your trust and faith in them. Karina did a brilliant job with this and I couldn’t have imagined a better host for the evening.

The venue for the event was The Florist Bristol. This worked well as the beautiful jewellery matched perfectly with the decor. Throughout the evening we were also given the chance to try out the delicious cocktails supplied by The Florist.

I love being able to watch their cocktails be created. The taste and presentation of the drinks at The Florist is always very fitting with the floral theme.

Lace in Fashion -Fashion Museum Bath

befunky-collage

Last week I was lucky enough to attend a sneak preview of the Lace in Fashion exhibition at The Fashion Museum in Bath. The exhibition runs from February 4th 2017 until the January 1st 2018.

“Drawing on the riches of the Fashion Museum’s collection, as well as generous loans from contemporary fashion designers, the exhibition showcases 50 exquisite pieces, showing how lace has been used in fashion from the 1500s to the present day.”

bloggers_lace_28

On arrival we were welcomed with refreshments and had a chance to admire the collection whilst waiting for everyone to arrive. We were then given an amazing tour of the collections, enabling us to revisit the history behind each piece.

It was interesting to see how lace had began as a hand made art, taking hours to complete and only to be worn by the wealthiest of people. Many of the pieces we visited included collars and cuffs, carefully designed and perfected by delicate hand made lace.

bloggers_lace_25

It was amazing to see how far lace had come in terms of both technology and fashion. Lace can now be easily found on both the high street and catwalk, which makes it interesting to see how it has transformed throughout the years.

There are many collections to see, featuring some interesting and inspiring work.  Glamorous pieces come into play throughout the exhibition and there are some beautiful dresses which definitely caught my eye.

If you’re looking to spend the day admiring wonderful fashion, then I would definitely recommend you head to the Fashion Museum in Bath. Not only will you find this extraordinary collection, but you can venture through galleries filled with historical and contemporary fashion.

There are also several courses and classes available at the Fashion Museum if you wish to learn more about lace.
You can find a list below, along with the full schedule on their website.

Bristol Fashion Week 2016

thumbnail_img_2138

This week I was lucky enough to be invited to blog for Bristol Fashion Week. The event was held at The Mall in Cribbs Causeway, Bristol and ran from the 28th September – 2nd October. On arrival each guest was welcomed with a glass of bubbly and a small selection of snacks before being shown to their designated seat.

thumbnail_img_2145

The opening show was incredible and with the theme being Military, the range did not disappoint.  The scene featured some fresh fashions from Marks & Spencer, along with bags from Radley London.

thumbnail_img_2151

The scene was followed by some amazing new trends, along with Uniform Makeover, a personal favourite of mine. The collection included some great pieces for work, along with some stable winter coats.

The Uniform Makeover collection featured fashion from Marks & Spencer, along with makeup by Bobbi Brown – sporting dark lips and luminous highlighters, along with great hair by G&T in Clifton Village.

There were ten scenes altogether and I absolutely loved them all. One of my favourites  being Gothic– which featured fashion from Coast and menswear from Moss Boss. Black clothing is perfect for any occasion and the amazing atmosphere linked with this produced an unforgettable show.

Another scene I loved would definitely have to be Fairytale. The scene featured some enchanting pieces from Karen Millen, matched with beautiful accessories from Accessorize.

The event ended with a spectacular finale and all guests left with a goody bag full of beauty products, sweets and treats. It was definitely an experience not to be missed.

After leaving the fashion show, I then headed over to Marks & Spencer to attend the blogging event they had prepared for us. The store was decorated with beautiful fairy lights and an enchanting forest theme.

The lovely ladies at Marks & Spencer supplied us with prosecco and delicious snacks throughout the night. We were lucky enough to preview the latest Autumn fashion and were treated to a fabulous nail bar.

It was great being able to socialise with other bloggers and find out more about what Marks & Spencer has to offer this season.

I had an amazing night at both events and I am so grateful for all the information and goodies which were offered to me. I will definitely be heading over to The Mall in Cribbs Causeway, Bristol to pick up some of the latest fashion pieces featured in Bristol Fashion Week this year.

Estée Lauder Blogging Event – Free Gift For Readers!

thumbnail_IMG_1771

Last week I was lucky enough to be invited to an Estée Lauder blogging event at Cribbs Causeway Bristol. The event was held in Scavi & Ray, an elegant prosecco bar found in The Mall Cribbs Causeway.

On arrival we were greeted by our amazing host Karen. She welcomed us in and ensured that we were comfortable and well equipped with mini bottles of prosecco and delicious nibbles. Karen and the women at Estée Lauder also gifted each blogger with an amazing goody bag full of Estée Lauder gifts which I will be reviewing very soon!

Once we were all settled, Karen began explaining to us the history of Estée Lauder. I have used a lot of their products before, but it was really interesting to find out that Estée Lauder was in fact a woman who created the first set of samples for make-up and skincare. Estée Lauder was an inspirational woman and she has definitely made a huge impact in the beauty industry!

After we were all filled in with the knowledge we needed on the brand, Karen began to demonstrate some of the amazing products Estée Lauder has to offer.

My favourite products were those taken from the Genuine Glow range. This range is well suited to a younger audience and is guaranteed to leave your skin looking and feeling gorgeous. The two products I loved trying out the most were the Genuine Glow Eyelighting Creme for Face and Eyes as it makes the perfect highlighter, along with the Reviving Oil Lip Tint. What was amazing about the Lip Tint is how it adapts to suit your skin tone. Several bloggers tried out the product and we each saw the shade change to best suit our complexion.

Once we had watched several amazing demonstrations and tried out some amazing new products, we headed over to the Estée Lauder counter at Boots to be colour matched to a foundation of our choice. We were then able to take a sample of our matched foundation home.

I had such an amazing evening and I couldn’t wait to get home and try out all the products generously gifted to me. I will be reviewing these products in depth very soon!

thumbnail_IMG_1805

Before leaving the event, the women at Estée Lauder wanted to make sure that our readers were also able to benefit from this amazing experience. If you take the voucher below to the Estée Lauder counter in Boots you will be able to receive your own free gift! The voucher is accepted by showing it on your phone, along with in print form. I hope you guys enjoy and I am sure you will love their products as much as I do!

thumbnail_image002-2.jpg

I would like to thank Karen and all of the Estée Lauder team in Cribbs Causeway for allowing this amazing event to take place. I would also like to show my appreciation for Scavi & Ray for providing us with prosecco all night- you guys are the best!

My August Lip Product Round Up!

This month I have been totally obsessed with trying out new lip products.
Although I usually tend to stick to traditional lipsticks, I decided to try out some alternatives and I absolutely love them.

I decided to choose my favourite four and show you why I will definitely be keeping them in my makeup bag for September!

Too Faced Melted Metal – Melted Metallic Macaron  £18.00

This liquified metalic lipstick is the perfect texture and colour for a summers day. The texture of this product does not leave your lips feeling sticky, which is always a bonus when looking for lipsticks and glosses.

This lipstick also lasts several hours and you are able to build up a bolder colour if needed. I tend to only use a small amount of the product to gain a light pink shade but if a lot of the product is applied you can gain a bright pigmented pink colour.

MAC Lusture – See Sheer    £15.50

This lipstick is one of MAC’s classics. I love the coral tones of this product and also how it lasts throughout the whole day. Although the price is higher than some drugstore brands, you will be sure to find that the texture and tone of this product is totally worth it.

MUA Luxe Velvet Lip Lacquer – Tranquility    £3.00

Not only is the price of this product amazing, but this matte lipgloss is the perfect dupe for the Kylie Matte Lip Kits. I love the texture of this lip lacquer, along with the fact that it sure to stay on throughout the day. With this product only costing £3.00 it would be rude not to try it out!

NYX Lingerie – Exotic £6.50

This matte lip gloss is similar to the MUA Luxe product previously mentioned, but I feel that the quality is much better as it does not leave your lips feeling dry and cracked. This product still has the same lasting effect as other high street matte lip glosses, but I feel that the texture and application of this product allows it to the be the best budget matte lip gloss.

The colour is a little darker than the other products I have chose this month, but it is my go-to lip gloss when I am going out of a meal or cocktails in the evening.

I hope you have enjoyed reading this review.
It would be great to hear which products you are loving this month!

My Favourite Budget Make-up Buys

When it comes to buying make-up I usually prefer to treat myself to high end products as I feel that they are usually well worth it in order to gain a good quality result. Having said that, I have recently purchased a few budget priced products which I feel are equal to, if not better than some high end products which I have previously tried.

Hopefully this review will help people looking for affordable products, along with expressing the fact that just because products do not have a well known high end brand attached to them, it doesn’t mean that they are not amazing products to have!

The first product which I was extremely impressed with is the Collection Primed & Ready Mattifying Pore Minimiser Powered by Witch Hazel. This Primer is similar to the Smashbox Photo Finish Primer and is less than half of the price!

After applying this under my usual foundation, I feel that this product allowed my make-up to stay on throughout the day, whilst leaving my skin oil-free. The Witch Hazel has also left my skin feeling fresh and allowed my skin to breathe. After paying £4.99 for this product I definitely recommend giving this primer a try!

Whilst looking through the Makeup Revolution collection I was immediately attracted to this bronzer. The marbled shades of this bronzer are beautiful and the pigmentation of it is incredible. For £4.00 I didn’t expect much from this bronzer, but after applying it to my daily make-up routine I am pleased to say that it is very long lasting and just the right shade of brown for my skintone.

If you’re looking for a cheap bronzer with a slight shimmer to it, then I would recommend you try the Revolution Vivid Baked Bronzer – Rock on World.

The last product is also from Makeup Revolution and I have previously mentioned  it in some of my other posts. The Revolution Vivid Baked Highlighter – Golden Lights is my ultimate favourite product from their collection.

This highlighter is extremely pigmented and when blended in correctly, gives the perfect glow to your look. I purchased this product for just £3.00 and I love it! If you’re looking to try out a new powdered highlighter than you should definitely give this one a go.

I hope you have enjoyed this post and have reconsidered buying some budget priced products. With all of these products priced at under £5.00 it would be wrong not to give them a go!

Do you have any favourite budget product? Let me know as it would be great to try out some of your favourites!

Beauty Beach Essentials

As I am going on holiday in a few days I thought it would be good to write a post letting you all know what I plan to take with me in my beach bag.

I love my Lulu Traveler Pouch from LYDC and I will definitely be taking it with me when I go to the beach!

My bag contains a mixture of beauty and skincare products, along with a good book which is essential for the beach. I am loving Adore Me’s #BeachDayMusts swim and sexy lingerie range and I hope you enjoy my post as much as I love the others I have read! Hopefully I will inspire you to start thinking about what you will pack in your beach bag this year.

thumbnail_IMG_0628

The first product I put in my bag is definitely the most essential item, that being my sunscreen. This year I was lucky enough to try out a new Ladival Sun Protection and it’s fair to say I love it! The bottle I use is SPF 15 and it has an advanced infrared-a protection system which makes it much more effective than other sunscreens. I also love this product due to the fact that it doesn’t leave a gross scent behind, instead you are left with lovely moisturised and non-sticky skin.

When I am on the beach I don’t tend to wear foundation as I like my face to tan and also to give my skin a chance to breathe, but two products I do use are a highlighter and a bronzer. Both products I use are a powder form and I feel that they give my skin a glowing finish without having to be caked in makeup. The highlighter I tend to use on a hot day is the Make-up Revolution VIVID Baked Highlighter. This product is so cheap so at only £3 I am not afraid to take it to the beach with me.

I also take a mini Hoola Bronzer by Benefit with me. I also have the full sized version of this product but I don’t like carrying it with me to the beach in case it cracks. Similar to the highlighter, this bronzer glides across my skin so smoothly and is also very pigmented. I love this bronzer in any weather but it definitely adds to the perfect summer glow.

Along with these makeup products, I also like to take the nail varnish which I am currently using in my bag with me to cover up any unwanted chips. My new beach favourite is the Rimmel 60 Seconds polish in the colour 430 Coralicious. This varnish dries super quick and the colour is amazing. Along with this polish, I also like to bring my Nina Ricci perfume with me in order to top up on the fruity summer scent throughout the day.

One product which I particularly find handy if you plan on going for lunch straight from the beach is the Bastiste Tropical Dry Shampoo. It only takes a few sprays of this dry shampoo to leave your hair feeling fresh and smelling beautiful.

After making sure I have all my beauty products in my beach bag, I always make sure that I have a good book ready to read and relax with on the beach. At the moment I am reading The Ship by Antonia Honeywell. The book is set in a dystopian world where the people of London are fighting to stay alive. If you’re looking for an adventurous book to take with you this summer I definitely recommend this one!

Last but not least I will be making sure that I have my Cat Eye sunglasses with me from Accessorize. If you’re looking for a new pair of stylish sunglasses then you should take a look at their amazing new range. They are the perfect accessory for a day at the beach!

I hope you have enjoyed this post and I would love to hear what you have in your beach bag!

Last minute festival preparation.

Festival season is among us and it is clear that some of us are more prepared than others. Not everyone is constantly living the festival season lifestyle, so it is important that first time festival goers prepare themselves in order to attend a festival in style. By the end of this post you are sure to find out how prepared you really are when it comes to the festival season and also see whether or not you need to do some last minute shopping!

What’s the first thing you pack for a festival?
The main factor to determine whether or not you are prepared for festival season is to think about what would be the first thing you pack when getting ready to attend a festival. Most people will run to the dry shampoo and factor 30 and although they are useful products to have with you, you’re not really doing it right unless you are well prepared with a bum bag full of glitter and face paint.

What’s your main colour scheme for the festival?
Don’t get me wrong I love wearing anything black, but for a festival it’s important you step it up a gear and experiment with the brightest and funkiest patterns you can find. The greatest thing about a festival is being able to wear a multi coloured lycra outfit and not be judged for it. If you need any ideas then below are some outfits and pieces which you will find in Topshop and Burnt Soul.

Which accessories are essential?
As with any event, it is important that you match your outfit with the perfect accessories. If you’re a regular festival goer then you will already know that any tribal or aztec jewellery you own will look perfect with your outfit. If you’re new to the scene and are looking for some guidance or a piece which you are able to match with multiple outfits, I advise you invest in a cute floral headband or a bright statement necklace. If these make it through the festival then there’s no harm in bringing them along next year!

Is there such thing as sensible footwear?
No matter what the weather forecast states, it is inevitable that throughout the festival you will come across generous amounts of mud. With this in mind wearing sandals to a festival is a very bad idea. Not only will your feet be covered in whatever mess is around you, but is it more than likely that your feet will get stood on and crushed in the crowds. You’re better off sticking to trainers or wellies when attending a festival as they are both comfy and practical.

Worried about not having a make-up kit and blow dry on hand?
If you’re the type of girl who loves make-up and couldn’t imagine a weekend not being able to spend hours making sure your hair and make-up is perfect, then attending a festival will definitely be a challenge for you. A few tips to consider before attending the festival is learning how to plait your hair if you don’t already know how to – this will save your life when you find your hair turning greasy and frizzy. Another tip is to have your eyelashes and brows tinted before the festival so you don’t have to spend time applying mascara and brow tint to them. If you are really struggling with the idea of no makeup then you could always invest in a good BB Cream and a product such as Nars The Multiple, a 3-in-1 product which can be used on your eyes, cheeks and lips.

The most important thing to remember when preparing for a festival is to enjoy yourself. Once you get there you will be having so much fun you won’t be focusing on how you look and you will soon realise that everybody else is in the same boat as you.
Don’t let not having a make-up bag and shower on hand discourage you from attending!
