Amphora Aromatics Review

After recently discovering a new organic and locally based brand, I was so excited to test out some of their products. Amphora Aromatics have more than 30 years’ experience in creating amazing aromatherapy products. They use high quality ingredients from independent producers around the world, which is definitely reflected in their products.

The company prides itself in creating high quality products, yet still being able to sell them at a reasonable price.

The first product that I am obsessing over is from the essentials collection is the Sandalwood and Palmavosa Moisturising Face Lotion. One of the reasons why I love this face lotion is that it’s incredibly light on the skin. The refreshing fragrance is the perfect scent to get you ready for the day.

I’ve been using this product for just over a week and it’s a huge impact on my face. I love using it in the morning as it’s the perfect base to apply my makeup, or to simply leave my skin feeling refreshed. It really does protect your skin from the cold winter months and leaves it feeling silky smooth.

The second product I tried out was the Sleep blend from their Aromatherapy Blend collection. Amphora Aromatics have six new blends, all of which are 100% pure. The range includes Sleep, Energise, Revive, Focus, Relax and Festive. They can be used in diffusers or burners to help promote relaxation and well being.

These oils are priced at just £7.50, which is incredible value for money.

I tried out SleepComforting

“A relaxing and balancing blend of Juniper, Patchouli and Lavender gently soothes you to sleep. Comforting and warming Orange, Marjoram and Howood help combat insomnia by working to calm restlessness and anxiety – promoting peace and tranquillity. “           www.amphora-retail.com

Like many of us, I spend most of my week stressing out at work and drinking way too much coffee for my own good. Unfortunately this is regularly reflected in my sleeping pattern. With this in mind, I was excited to try out this blend and see if it would make a genuine difference to my routine.

Not only did this help me have a incredible nights sleep, I felt much more relaxed and stress-free in the evenings. This product definitely helps you chill out and it’s something I will be continuing to use for a long time.

If you’re looking for some natural and locally sourced products, then I definitely recommend you check out this brand. They’re based on Cotham Hill, Bristol or you can find them online at www.amphora-retail.com

Health & Beauty Bristol Blogger Event

I recently attended a Blogging event in which Health and Beauty bloggers and brands met to collaborate and socialise with each other.

The event was held at the Bristol City Centre Marriott Hotel. On arrival we were greeted with an amazing spread of delicious sweets and treats. I was so impressed with the decor in the hotel. The room we used was themed with Bristol’s greatest attractions and some incredible artwork. Below is a feature wall which I automatically fell in love with.

Not only was the atmosphere incredible, but the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. If you’re looking for a place to stay in Bristol, then I would definitely recommend you check out this hotel as it’s in the perfect location and you will get a real taste of Bristol

I really enjoyed socialising with other bloggers and it was great to hear what others are truly passionate about. Along with meeting like minded bloggers, there were some really great local based brands at the event. The brands featured at the event were Amphora Aromatics, The Somerset Toiletry Company, Shy Mimosa Perfumery, Scentered, Grace Emmerson and The Pilates Room. All of which were incredibly friendly. I can’t wait to try out some of their lovely products for myself.

Thank you so much to Heather Cowper for organising the event. It was a really good opportunity to socialise and collaborate with some brilliant people. I’d also like to thank The Marriot Hotel for having us all, it was a great evening and I really enjoyed myself.

If you’re currently starting up your own blog then I would definitely recommend attending a local blogging event in your area. It’s a great place to pick up tips from like minded people and help get your name out there.

Barry M – Matte Me Up Lip Kit

After hearing many reviews on Barry M’s Matte Me Up Lip Kits, it was only right that I tried one out for myself.

I tend to use both lip liners and lipsticks in my everyday makeup routine. Applying both helps you to create a neat finish and also helps the product last longer.  I find lip kits really helpful as they match up the perfect lip liner and lipstick shade for you. The Barry M Lip Kit I chose to buy features both the lip liner and liquid lipstick in the shade Go To.

I love the shade of this product and as the name states, this will definitely be a go to lip product of mine. It’s the perfect shade for every day use and it looks like a dupe of Mac’s Velvet Teddy, which I adore. Using the liner first helps you keep a clean finish to your makeup look.

The liner which comes in the kit is a pencil liner, which I am really impressed with. I much prefer a pencil liner to a plastic coated one, as you are able to get a lot more use from the product by sharpening it.

I wore both products whilst on a Christmas shopping trip this weekend and I am really impressed with the outcome. After stuffing my face at lunch the product did not budge which is great. One thing I would say is that it does start to feel slightly dry after a few hours but if you apply some lip balm, the product should last all day.

You can see my finished look above. I am really happy with this product and the pricing  is more than half of alternative lip kits such as Kylie Jenner’s. I think for £6.99 you can’t go wrong.

This product is a new favourite of mine and I will definitely be stocking up on some more shades this season.

Winter Tan Treats

As temperatures start to drop, there’s nothing I love more than wrapping up warm. But even though I will spending most of the winter months covered up, I still like to make sure that I maintain a bronzed glow.

Most of us have Christmas parties and events to attend, which means that you have will have an excuse to wear anything with a hint of glitter. With that in mind, it’s even more important for me to ensure that my skin will also be glowing. Not all of us are lucky enough to jet away to a warmer climate to get that tropic tan, so I have been looking for an easier alternative.

St. Tropez Express Sheet Mask

When it comes to tanning my face I am always worried that it will leave me with a bright orange face, along with a ton of breakouts. As I am always impressed with St. Tropez tanning products I thought that I would give this a go.

Unlike other face tanners, this product comes in the form of a sheet mask. It’s advertised as being nourishing and glowing, so I was hoping that it wouldn’t dry out my face. As soon as you take the product out of it’s package you can feel how much moisture is in it, which I love. One thing to note is that the mask is very delicate so be extra careful when unfolding it.

I left the mask on for just over five minutes. The product develops gradually and I applied it before going to bed, so I was very pleased to wake up with a light glow to my face. Most importantly I did not break out after using this product which was amazing. The only downside is that you only have one use out of it, but it is definitely a product I will be stocking up on.

Bondi Sans – Self Tanning Foam

This is my new go-to tanning product. I always find that foams work better than lotions, especially when you can see where the tan is developing. This product blends perfectly and you only need to leave it on for an hour to get a bronzed glow.

I tend to go for the Light/Medium shade and I leave it on overnight in order to create the perfect tone. The shade is not orange at all and it leaves you looking like you have been relaxing on a beach all week.

This product also smells incredible, which is always something I look for in a tanning product. If you’re looking for a product which is super easy to apply and will leave you with a natural looking glow, then I would definitely recommend this self tanner.

Highlighter Highlights

Like most people, I love to complete my makeup with the perfect highlighter. Depending on the occasion and look I want, I tend to use a different highlighter each time.

Although I have many in makeup collection, I thought I would share with you the top four that I use the most. The highlighters featured in this post are very different as they all have completely different shades.

Urban Decay Afterglow – Sin

I’m pretty sure that I have featured this highlighter in one of my posts already, but I am still totally obsessed with it! The shade of this highlighter is perfect for both a day and night look. It’s labelled as lasting eight hours and I definitely agree. I tend to wear this highlighter to work everyday and it doesn’t budge at all.

Technic Get Gorgeous – Pink Sparkle

When I first saw this product I did not expect to like it as much as I do. The shade of this highlighter is not as pigmented as it first looks, although it does give you enough colour to brighten up any makeup look. This is the perfect highlighter for a summers day and with it costing less than £3.00 you can’t go wrong.

Kiko Milano Fall 2.0 Highlighter – Steps to Modern

This my go-to highlighter for any evening look. The tone of this highlighter goes perfectly with a warm bronzer and gives you that extra shimmer, without looking like you’ve got chunks of glitter stuck to your face. This product is also long lasting which is always a plus as you won’t need to reapply it throughout the evening.

MUA Luxe Highlight Shimmer Stick

As you have probably noticed I usually go for powder highlighters as I find they last a lot longer and give a more natural finish. But this highlighter stick helps to create the perfect dewy look. This product only costs £4.00, so it is another budget product that I am really impressed with.

What highlighters do you love? I’d love to check out some new products.

Barry M – In the Glow Body Oil Review

After returning from my summer holidays, I am devastated to see that my tan has started to fade away. Although it has not left me completely pale, I have been looking for a product which keeps the little bit of tan I have left looking healthy and natural.

Whilst browsing several reviews I saw great recommends on bronzing oils. I’m sure most of you have heard of Estee Lauder and The Body Shop bronzing oils, which seemed to be the most popular and reviewed oils.

As these oils can be quite pricey, I decided to look for a cheaper alternative. After searching my local Boots for a budget version, I came across In The Glow by Barry M. At £7.99 this product is less than half of the price of many other well know oils so I jumped at the chance to try it.

My main worry when trying out this oil was that I would end up orange, or that it would transfer on to my clothes straight away. But after applying the product and leaving it to dry for a good 5-10 minutes, it didn’t budge at all. I was also impressed with the fact that it didn’t give off a horrible scent, which is always a bonus.

I was confident enough to wear a white top after using this product and it did not smudge on to my clothing at all. The oil dries perfectly and gives you an extra glow without covering you in glitter.

If you’re looking to try out a cheap bronzing oil then I definitely recommend you give this one a go!

Chanel Ombre Première Eyeshadows

I recently visited the Chanel counter in Boots and was lucky enough to try out the new Ombre Premiere Eyeshadow Collection. The collection features two new textures, cream and powder, both with a long lasting effect. There are 24 shades in the collection, with multiple finishes, including matte, metalic and satiny.

When I arrived at the counter, the regional makeup artist for Chanel greeted me and introduced me to the new range. She then began matching up the colours best suited to my skin tone and eye colour. As I have greeny/blue eyes, she was looking to match me with a colour that would make my eye colour pop and brighten my eyes.

We decided to use both textures using a layering effect in order to create a soft smoky eye. The shades she picked were Sable 28 and Desert Rouge 36 in the powder range, along with Pourpre Profond 810 and Scintillance 804 in the cream range.

I was amazed at how pigmented the shadows were and I love the way the cream and powder eyeshadows blended perfectly.

The look was completed with the Le Gel Sourcils Eyebrow Gel in Transparent 350 and the Imitable Intense Mascara in Noir 10.

I am in love with the new range and I was so impressed with my finished look. The product did not budge all day, so I was happy to invest in this amazing range.

It didn’t take long to apply these products and I would feel comfortable in this look in both the day and night.

The shades are incredible and I would definitely recommend you try out these products.
