Barry M – Matte Me Up Lip Kit

thumbnail_IMG_3514

After hearing many reviews on Barry M’s Matte Me Up Lip Kits, it was only right that I tried one out for myself.

I tend to use both lip liners and lipsticks in my everyday makeup routine. Applying both helps you to create a neat finish and also helps the product last longer.  I find lip kits really helpful as they match up the perfect lip liner and lipstick shade for you. The Barry M Lip Kit I chose to buy features both the lip liner and liquid lipstick in the shade Go To.

I love the shade of this product and as the name states, this will definitely be a go to lip product of mine. It’s the perfect shade for every day use and it looks like a dupe of Mac’s Velvet Teddy, which I adore. Using the liner first helps you keep a clean finish to your makeup look.

The liner which comes in the kit is a pencil liner, which I am really impressed with. I much prefer a pencil liner to a plastic coated one, as you are able to get a lot more use from the product by sharpening it.

I wore both products whilst on a Christmas shopping trip this weekend and I am really impressed with the outcome. After stuffing my face at lunch the product did not budge which is great. One thing I would say is that it does start to feel slightly dry after a few hours but if you apply some lip balm, the product should last all day.

You can see my finished look above. I am really happy with this product and the pricing  is more than half of alternative lip kits such as Kylie Jenner’s. I think for £6.99 you can’t go wrong.

This product is a new favourite of mine and I will definitely be stocking up on some more shades this season.

New Lush Purchases

Working in the City Centre makes shopping way too hard to resist. So on my lunch break last week I decided to pop into Lush and pick up a couple of treats. After a very long week, I picked up the perfect products to help me unwind.

thumbnail_IMG_3360

Mask of Magnaminty.

I really wanted to pick up a new face mask, but as most of their masks have to be kept in the fridge I didn’t think it would last in my bag all day. Luckily I found this mask which is self-preserving, which means it doesn’t need to be kept in the fridge which is amazing!

I used to use this mask all of the time, but for some reason I have recently forgotten how good it is. The mask can be used on both your face and body, and is great for battling breakouts. I also love how long these little pots last, as you get plenty of uses out of it.

The peppermint in this mask leaves the most incredible feeling on your face. It’s also great if you’re looking for something to get you ready for the day, then this mask is a must.

Big Blue Bath Bomb.

This is one my favourite bath bombs from Lush. Not only does it turn your bath bright blue, but it is the perfect product to leave you feeling relaxed and refreshed.

This bath bomb contains lavender, so as somebody who doesn’t tend to like the scent I was pleasantly surprised with this one. The lemon and lavender scents complement each other beautifully.

One thing to note about this bath bomb is that it contains seaweed that softens when placed in the warm bath. I personally love this as it makes you feel like you have been transported to the sea.

These two products work so well together and they are perfect to help you wind down after a long day at work.  I can’t wait to stock up on more Lush products ready for Christmas!

Winter Tan Treats

As temperatures start to drop, there’s nothing I love more than wrapping up warm. But even though I will spending most of the winter months covered up, I still like to make sure that I maintain a bronzed glow.

Most of us have Christmas parties and events to attend, which means that you have will have an excuse to wear anything with a hint of glitter. With that in mind, it’s even more important for me to ensure that my skin will also be glowing. Not all of us are lucky enough to jet away to a warmer climate to get that tropic tan, so I have been looking for an easier alternative.

St. Tropez Express Sheet Mask

When it comes to tanning my face I am always worried that it will leave me with a bright orange face, along with a ton of breakouts. As I am always impressed with St. Tropez tanning products I thought that I would give this a go.

Unlike other face tanners, this product comes in the form of a sheet mask. It’s advertised as being nourishing and glowing, so I was hoping that it wouldn’t dry out my face. As soon as you take the product out of it’s package you can feel how much moisture is in it, which I love. One thing to note is that the mask is very delicate so be extra careful when unfolding it.

I left the mask on for just over five minutes. The product develops gradually and I applied it before going to bed, so I was very pleased to wake up with a light glow to my face. Most importantly I did not break out after using this product which was amazing. The only downside is that you only have one use out of it, but it is definitely a product I will be stocking up on.

Bondi Sans – Self Tanning Foam

This is my new go-to tanning product. I always find that foams work better than lotions, especially when you can see where the tan is developing. This product blends perfectly and you only need to leave it on for an hour to get a bronzed glow.

I tend to go for the Light/Medium shade and I leave it on overnight in order to create the perfect tone. The shade is not orange at all and it leaves you looking like you have been relaxing on a beach all week.

This product also smells incredible, which is always something I look for in a tanning product. If you’re looking for a product which is super easy to apply and will leave you with a natural looking glow, then I would definitely recommend this self tanner.

Avène Cleanance Anti-Blemish Routine

thumbnail_IMG_3347 (2)

Avène Cleanance Anti-Blemish Routine.

As I am coming up to my 23rd Birthday, I didn’t think that I would still be constantly battling against blemishes on my skin. Unfortunately acne isn’t just for teenagers, as much as I would love that to be true.

So as always I have been searching for a product that would not irritate my skin and ensure that it would stay squeaky clean. As you can probably tell I am somebody who loves to wear makeup, so even though I have finally found a foundation that does not cause me to constantly breakout, it’s important that I pair this with a decent skincare routine in order to maintain a clear face.

The products in the kit all contain Avène Thermal Spring Water, which I have heard incredible things about. If you have sensitive skin like myself, then this kit is something that may be able to help you out.

I have tried using Avène skincare products before and I have always been impressed with them, so I was excited to try out the Cleanance Anti-Blemish Routine Kit. It features three products which you have to apply both day in night in order to see results. Sounds a lot of effort right? Well it is definitely worth it.

thumbnail_IMG_3350

The first step is to cleanse the face using the Cleanance Cleansing Gel. Apologies for the half used bottle, but I thought I would need to try it out before attempting to review it. I have now been using the product for several weeks and I can definitely say I have seen improvements. The box states to use this cleansing gel both day and night which I have been doing after removing my makeup for the day.

After using the cleansing gel, my skin feels squeaky clean and helps to remove any excess oil. I also love how gentle this product is on your eyes. I wouldn’t recommend you try and put the product directly on your eyes, but if you accidentally splash some into your eyes it isn’t the end of the world.

thumbnail_IMG_3359

The second step is to use the Cleanance MATMattifying Toner. This product should also be applied both day and night, using a cotton pad. The box states to apply this on your t-zone, but I apply the product to my whole face.  This toner helps to mattify your skin and I have definitely seen a reduction in my pores since using this product. You can feel your skin tightening after just one use which is incredible.

thumbnail_IMG_3355

The last step of the routine is to hydrate and target. The Cleanace Expert – Emulsion is a light cream which is applied to your face before applying any makeup. This product leaves your skin feeling matte and it also makes the perfect primer.

Again it is recommended to use this product both day and night, which I have been doing over the past few weeks. The results have been incredible and I have seen a reduction in the redness of any current blemishes, along with no new breakouts.

I will continue using this product as I am very impressed with my results. It is worth taking the time to apply the products twice a day, so if you’re looking to update your skincare routine then I would definitely recommend you trying out this kit.

Highlighter Highlights

thumbnail_IMG_2866

Like most people, I love to complete my makeup with the perfect highlighter. Depending on the occasion and look I want, I tend to use a different highlighter each time.

Although I have many in makeup collection, I thought I would share with you the top four that I use the most. The highlighters featured in this post are very different as they all have completely different shades.

Urban Decay Afterglow – Sin

I’m pretty sure that I have featured this highlighter in one of my posts already, but I am still totally obsessed with it! The shade of this highlighter is perfect for both a day and night look. It’s labelled as lasting eight hours and I definitely agree. I tend to wear this highlighter to work everyday and it doesn’t budge at all.

Technic Get Gorgeous – Pink Sparkle

When I first saw this product I did not expect to like it as much as I do. The shade of this highlighter is not as pigmented as it first looks, although it does give you enough colour to brighten up any makeup look. This is the perfect highlighter for a summers day and with it costing less than £3.00 you can’t go wrong.

Kiko Milano Fall 2.0 Highlighter – Steps to Modern

This my go-to highlighter for any evening look. The tone of this highlighter goes perfectly with a warm bronzer and gives you that extra shimmer, without looking like you’ve got chunks of glitter stuck to your face. This product is also long lasting which is always a plus as you won’t need to reapply it throughout the evening.

MUA Luxe Highlight Shimmer Stick

As you have probably noticed I usually go for powder highlighters as I find they last a lot longer and give a more natural finish. But this highlighter stick helps to create the perfect dewy look. This product only costs £4.00, so it is another budget product that I am really impressed with.

What highlighters do you love? I’d love to check out some new products.
xoxo

Barry M – In the Glow Body Oil Review

thumbnail_IMG_2483

After returning from my summer holidays, I am devastated to see that my tan has started to fade away. Although it has not left me completely pale, I have been looking for a product which keeps the little bit of tan I have left looking healthy and natural.

Whilst browsing several reviews I saw great recommends on bronzing oils. I’m sure most of you have heard of Estee Lauder and The Body Shop bronzing oils, which seemed to be the most popular and reviewed oils.

As these oils can be quite pricey, I decided to look for a cheaper alternative. After searching my local Boots for a budget version, I came across In The Glow by Barry M. At £7.99 this product is less than half of the price of many other well know oils so I jumped at the chance to try it.

My main worry when trying out this oil was that I would end up orange, or that it would transfer on to my clothes straight away. But after applying the product and leaving it to dry for a good 5-10 minutes, it didn’t budge at all. I was also impressed with the fact that it didn’t give off a horrible scent, which is always a bonus.

I was confident enough to wear a white top after using this product and it did not smudge on to my clothing at all. The oil dries perfectly and gives you an extra glow without covering you in glitter.

If you’re looking to try out a cheap bronzing oil then I definitely recommend you give this one a go!

Aluna Cocktail Bar and Restaurant Bristol

Last Saturday my boyfriend and I took a trip to Aluna in Bristol and I can honestly say I am very impressed. Aluna is a cocktail bar and restaurant situated in the City Centre of Bristol. As Aluna is well known for its extravagant cocktails, it was only right that we tried them out whilst enjoying their delicious menu.

thumbnail_IMG_2210

To start I decided to have the breaded mushrooms which was a brilliant choice. The texture of these were perfect and unlike others I have tried elsewhere, they were not greasy at all. They made the perfect starter.

thumbnail_IMG_2208

My boyfriend chose the Salt Chilli Squid as his starter (as he is much more adventurous than myself). He loved his starter and was pleased with how the chilli sauce complemented the squid.

For our mains we had the Pan Fried Duck in Ponzu Sauce and Chicken Florentine. Both dishes were bursting with flavour and the generous portions definitely filled us up. My boyfriend really enjoyed the texture of the duck, and I felt that the mushroom sauce with the Chicken Florentine was incredible. I will definitely be ordering this main again when I return to the restaurant.

thumbnail_IMG_2242

So after finishing our first two courses, we decided to finish off our meal with a delicious dessert. I had the chocolate brownie which was so moist and chocolatey.
Just looking at this picture makes me want to eat it all over again.

My boyfriend decided to go with the Apple Sorbet. Both desserts were well presented and after stealing a spoonful of the sorbet, I can agree that its definitely a tasty and refreshing finish to any meal.

So after giving you a run down of all the delicious food we indulged in – and probably leaving you very hungry, it’s time to show you what amazing cocktails we had.

We tried out several cocktails whilst we were there, including the Mojito and Pomegranate Cosmo. If you’re a fan of Mojitos then you definitely need to take a trip to this cocktail bar. All of their cocktails are incredibly refreshing and I was so impressed with how well presented they were.

thumbnail_IMG_2229

After asking the waiter (who was incredible throughout the whole service) which cocktails she recommended, I decided to try out both the Pomegranate Cosmo and Mangolian. Both of these cocktails featured on the Midnight Madness section of the cocktail menu. It was described as ‘The science behind the cocktails’ and after trying them out I can definitely see why.

Both cocktails came out with a bang, featuring an incredible bubbling frost to them. It’s hard to describe in words, so you can watch a video of the Pomegranate Cosmo in action here

Overall as you can probably tell, I was so impressed with the service, food and incredible cocktails at Aluna.  We have both decided that this is our new favourite place and we will definitely be spending our next date night here.

I wanted to make sure that I mentioned that we were really impressed with the staff at Aluna. We were served by a lovely lady named Tory and I would like to thank her for going the extra mile for us and making our experience truly special.

She offered the best recommendations and the service we received definitely helped create the perfect atmosphere!

.

If you’re looking to go out for a special meal, or just wanting to try out some spectacular cocktails, then I would definitely recommend you take a trip to Aluna.
